We absolutely adore Ananda Kitchen. The food is delicious, freshly prepared, and filled with so much warmth. Having such wonderful Indian vegetarian meals so close to home — served by smiling, dedicated volunteers — is truly a blessing. It has become our comfort spot every day, and we couldn’t be more grateful🙏
Ananda Rasoi is 100% vegetarian restaurant located within the premises of the Hindu Temple in The Woodlands area of Houston. Food is very tasty, freshly made and very authentic South Indian taste. The Dahi Vada is simply outstanding! Poori Baaji and Chole was very satisfying and reminded me of Mangalore! The baaji taste and texture reminded me of my college days and how we would relish a simple meal. Thank you Chef Umaji- you are an awesome cook.
I am from Dallas and recently tried Ananda Kitchen in The Woodlands. Honestly, I was very impressed. The food tasted truly authentic, both North Indian and South Indian dishes were done really well, which is honestly rare to find in one place. Everything felt fresh, satwik, hygienic, and made with a lot of care. The restaurant itself is very spacious, clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. The staff and volunteers were extremely warm and welcoming. You can actually feel that people are serving with heart there. Having the beautiful temple right next to it makes the whole experience even more special and calming. Really happy to see a volunteer-run place maintaining such high quality in food, cleanliness, and customer service. A must try, if you are in the area.
We went there the 3rd time in the past 3 months and the food is absolutely delicious. What's more ,the food quality is consistent. Our guests from the city who frequent South Indian restaurants in town felt Ananda food tastes better.Amazing that the restaurant's run by volunteers.
A hidden gem built on community spirit, this temple-based restaurant is truly something special. What began as a humble effort by dedicated volunteers has grown into a well-organized kitchen that delivers not just food, but an experience rooted in care, tradition, and generosity. The food is exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with attention and heart. Each dish feels authentic and comforting, capturing the essence of traditional recipes while maintaining consistent quality. Thank you for putting your heart and soul into it. I highly recommend it
Food feels like “home-cooked” Great taste, clean, minimal oil, mild spices, generous portions, exceptional spread/variety in each plate We can easily eat here or get food catered from here without guilt. This is where Ananda differs from almost all restaurants that I have ever eaten at. Gratitude for Ananda’s existence & that too in such close proximity. Atmosphere is that of an “external patio”. That is not a deterrent for casual visits. However, it could be spruced up as extension for more formal gatherings that are often planned at the Lotus Hall.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the amazing food! Everything was absolutely delicious, and every single guest complimented it. The cooking team truly made the meal so special with their taste, quality, and presentation. What makes it even more impressive is that we placed the order with less than 48 hours’ notice, and they still managed everything so perfectly and professionally. The effort, care, and coordination really showed. We sincerely appreciate the wonderful service and will definitely be ordering again. Highly recommended! 🙏
My husband and I moved to The Woodlands from Chicago just two months ago, and while exploring the area for restaurants and places to shop for food, one of the most beautiful and joyful discoveries we have made has been Ananda Rasoi. The first time, my husband went on his own and came back home with samosas and a dosa. The very next day, we couldn’t resist and went together—and from that moment on, we knew this place was truly special. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and authentic. It is located next to the Woodlands Hindu Temple, and you can see people walking by, coming and going. Everything is filled with color, beautiful faces, and a sense of peace and harmony. The food is prepared and served with love and dedication. The staff is kind, attentive, and professional, and every dish is simply spectacular. Although we have tried other Indian restaurants in the area, Ananda Rasoi made us feel as if we were eating in the home of dear friends who are cooking especially for us. We have been there several times now, and each visit we try a new dish, often following the recommendations of a gentleman who already recognizes us. On our most recent visit, in addition to the staff we already knew, we were attended by a wonderful lady—as if she had stepped out of a classic Bollywood film—named Gaya. She was not only attentive to every detail, but also thoughtful and generous with her recommendations. She even took the time to explain the dishes and help us find places to shop for Indian spices and other products. Her warmth, genuine smile, and wise advice truly made our day. Without a doubt, Ananda Rasoi deserves 5 stars and more—for the food, the atmosphere, and the people who serve you with such care.
